Field Trip Guides- Volunteers
Share the joy of farming with the next generation!
At Sweetwater Organic Community Farm, our Field Trip Guide Program invites passionate volunteers to share the magic of sustainable farming with the next generation. As a guide, you’ll lead students through interactive, hands-on experiences—like planting seeds, exploring compost, and harvesting fresh produce—while inspiring curiosity about where food comes from and how it’s grown. This program is a meaningful opportunity to connect with children, support environmental education, and play a vital role in nurturing future stewards of the earth.
Season: Primarily during the school year; October–May (with occasional summer trips)
Time: Wednesdays–Fridays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (field trips run 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
Role: Lead 10–15 students (with teacher/chaperone present) through farm activities
Training: Curriculum provided + shadowing opportunities
Commitment: Preferably 2–3 field trips per week (8-12 hours), but 1 trip per week is welcome
Stipend: $15 per trip for travel expenses
Overview: Our Field Trip Guide Volunteers help bring the farm to life for visiting students through hands-on learning, exploration, and fun.
