Garden! Explore! Discover!

Creatively explore an organic farm through hands-on experiences with plants and seeds. Fun place-based activities will introduce children to gardening. Plant and harvest vegetables, feed chickens, and dig for worms! Nature walks, science experiments, art projects, and games are all part of each day.

Descriptions of each week of camp:

WEEK 1

Dig in the dirt to discover the secrets of healthy plants! Dissect flowers and seeds to identify the parts of the plant. Make grass-heads, have a pollination party, and take a closer look at Florida’s waterways. Make plant life cycle crafts and investigate worms and bugs while creating compost.

WEEK 2

From garden to greenhouse, discover how people use and grow plants. Activities will increase awareness of native and medicinal plants plus strengthen identification skills of herbs and vegetables. Start take-home seedlings in a mini-greenhouse, make leaf rubbings on a botany scavenger hunt, and learn how to create native backyard habitats.
