Sweetwater Volunteer Meet & Greet

Urgent Call for Volunteers: Farmer for a Day Program

Sweetwater Organic Community Farm is facing an urgent need for volunteer educational tour guides for our Farmer for a Day program. We are scheduled to host multiple school groups next month, but without an increase in volunteers, we may not be able to provide this important learning experience for all visiting students.

Farmer for a Day offers children a hands-on introduction to farming, food systems, and

environmental stewardship. These impactful experiences are made possible by community members who share their time and enthusiasm. Volunteers guide small groups through the farm and support age-appropriate lessons—no previous farming or teaching experience is required. Training and resources are provided.

To help prospective volunteers learn more and ask questions, we invite you to attend one of our Volunteer Meet & Greet Open House events at the farm:

  • Friday, January 30 | 10:00am–12:00pm
  • Sunday, February 1 | 2:00–3:00pm, following our free farm tour from 1:00–2:00pm during the farmers market

With only two weeks to recruit additional volunteers, your support right now is critical. Whether you can help regularly or occasionally, your involvement will help ensure this program continues to inspire and educate the next generation.
