Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Membership Program

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) was introduced to the United States in 1985 to promote fresh, locally grown food and foster social and ecological responsibility.  CSAs establish a direct partnership between farmers and consumers, allowing members to share the risks and rewards of farming while enjoying a sense of responsibility for appropriate land stewardship.  Families and individuals become CSA members by paying a seasonal fee, which entitles them to a share of the weekly harvest.  Membership in our CSA affords access to the freshest possible organic produce, while supporting local, sustainable, healthy agriculture.

Produce Share

Each week's share will be a little different in variety and quantity, depending on what's growing that season and how much is actually harvested from the fields that week.  We aim to have 10-15 different items in each share including salad greens, cooking greens, root vegetables, herbs, vegetables, and occasionally, fruits.  Typically, a share will fill 2-4 grocery bags full.  The best way to get an idea of what a typical share might look like is to come to one of our Sweetwater Sunday Farmers' Markets, open to the public Sundays 12-4pm, November through May; you can shop at our organic produce stand at this time, and also check out our barn area where our members will be picking up their shares at this time.

Fees

Members pay a one-time flat fee upon enrollment, which entitles them to a portion of the weekly share.  We also ask that members volunteer 4 hours (total) during the season, to promote community involvement.
