Becoming a Member
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the farm! Memberships for the 2007-2008 season are now available (harvests from late October, early November through May). During the month of March 2007, we will take applications exclusively from current members who are renewing. In April 2007, we will take memberships from those on our wait list. From May onward memberships are available to everyone, until they are sold out. (Last year we were sold out by July). Remember, our Sweetwater Sunday Organic Market is open to the public during the season, November through May.

Our membership support levels are described below. They now provide the option of a member-determined contribution range within each support level. We have also expanded our support levels for those individuals or corporations who wish to play an important role in helping us promote Sweetwater’s mission and support the farm’s growth, outreach, and educational efforts.

Sweetwater memberships are based on a growing season beginning in September and ending in May. Produce is available for approximately 30 weeks, November through mid June, depending on weather and growing conditions. Some of the vegetables we have grown include arugula, beets, bok choi, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherry tomatoes, collard greens, cucumber, eggplant, kale, kohlrabi, 10-12 varieties of lettuce, mei choi, okra, onions, peppers, radishes, string beans, basil, swiss chard, tatsoi, potatoes, and turnips—just to name a few! Fruit—oranges, lemons, tangerines, grapefruit, and carambola—are available in season.

Want to know what you can expect to get if you become a full member? Check out our 2006-2007 Harvest Share Report that details what a Sprout (full) Member of the farm received in the 2006-2007 season. Keep in mind that harvests vary from year to year due to weather and growing conditions, but this will give you an idea of the types and amount of produce delivered to members throughout the year.

Other Products
In addition to the organic produce that we grow at Sweetwater Farm, members and non-members can take advantage of our Sweetwater Sunday Organic Market (runs November through May), where you can find products such as:

  • Non-Sweetwater raised produce (still organic), including: apples, sweet onions, strawberries, kiwis, baking potatoes, mushrooms, coconuts, beans, tomatoes.
  • Local honey, plants, Sweetwater T-shirts, and compost.
  • Organic chocolate bars, whole-bean coffee, and cocoa. These items are all "fair-trade," meaning that the growers get paid a respectable amount for their efforts.
  • Organic cotton clothing, beautiful hand-woven straw hats, Florida-native plants, hand-made soap, hand-made bread, hand-made candles and jewelry, arts and crafts, and other items.

Membership Form
If you want to become a member of Sweetwater Farm, download the Membership Application form. Pleasefill it out, print it, and return it to the address on the application along with your check. Be sure to specify which type of membership you would like. If a full membership (Sprout) is to be split between two individuals, please provide information on both parties.

New Volunteer Orientation Sheet
You may need Acrobat Reader to download the new volunteer orientation sheet (Warning: this is a large pdf file). This is especially for those new volunteers interested in working at the farm. It answers a number of the initial questions about working at the farm you are likely to have. There are farm tours and group orientations at the beginning of the season. If you missed those and would like a guided tour of the farm, please call to schedule.

Exceptional Supporters
William and Nancy Greenlees are the farm’s first Seeder members! Thank you for your "over the top" membership contribution that will help the farm further its mission! Many other members are giving more than the minimum to help the farm. Thanks to all!
